So, the year has started in full force for a lot of people while for some, the year is still trying to drag itself into agreement with resolutions and goals. Whichever one it is for you, this post is for you. I hope you’ve been able to come to terms with your goals and plans for the year and most importantly, draw the strength and inspiration to achieve them….

I thought about how busy this year will be for me as well as for others and so I decided to share some essentials I’m certain will help us all in staying organized, productive and ready to succeed in 2020.

   A Notepad/Notebook

It’s probably not just me, but it’s become almost like a ritual for me to get a new Notepad at the start of every year. Picked up the habit from my Mom and it’s been a blessing in disguise. You don’t have to be a ‘writer’ to own a Notepad. You just have to own one and use it intentionally. What a Notepad helps you to do is that –figuratively speaking – it acts as a stalker following you around until you have to open it and scribble down something. In 2020, a Notepad will be an essential in keeping you more organized, mentally tidy and prepared, and who knows? You could just discover a buried talent of writing you thought you never had.

  Digital Apps

Many thanks and more to technology, our lives can be more organized. I still wonder at the fact that a lot of people don’t realize the capabilities of the mobile phones they own. There’s literally no App that you probably won’t find on Google Play Store  or on the Apple store. Just think up any App you think might help you cut down laziness, speed up your work, remind you when your brain won’t, pay your bills, schedule appointments, meetings or even social media posts, make goofy videos, meet new people(in case you get tired of the old ones. lol), encourage your financial and saving goals, and even Apps that can help you tick off that new year resolution of ‘taking more pictures this year’…Technology is one of the things you should not underrate in 2020. I can help curate a list of many Digital Apps for you to check out, but that will have to come in another blog post. So stay subscribed to the blog✌️

  A Daily Devotional Bible App

I’m starting out my year being so intentional about many things especially growing in my relationship with God, and I’ve realized that one of the best ways to stick to this goal is to allow technology help me stay very intentional. I recently downloaded this daily devotional/Bible app and I’ve been loving it. It helps me stay in check and start my day right. You should check it out and in case you’re an iOS user, you should check out options on the iOS App too. If you have a daily devotional you use, you should find a way to intentionally follow through. Having and growing your relationship with God should be foremost this year.

Vision board

   A Vision/Dream/Goal Board

You probably think this one is too much, but it’s really not that complicated. You really don’t have to go the extra mile of buying a board or a cardboard, etc. If you want that, then that’s great. But you can draw up a vision board even on your Notepad (You see why item 1 is quite essential?). A lot of people delude themselves with the concept of “I have all my goals and visions in my head..I don’t need to write or put them down..” and they end up not even remembering they ever had some goals in the first place.

Remember that Life can be a knocker sometimes and that’s why we need written reminders once in a while that we can still dream and accomplish our stuff.

Look what Habukkuk 2:2-3 says: “Then the LORD answered me and said: ‘Write the vision and make it plain on tablets, that he may run who reads it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; Because it will surely come, It will not tarry…”

  Music & books

Music is really good medicine for the soul. There’s something it does to the innermost part of our souls and I know it has more to do with words. Words are a form of emotion. I think having a good library of Good music will help keep you kicking through the year and keep you afloat.

Books! We should read more this year. Let’s get inspired by people’s experiences, people’s stories and people’s thoughts. I have a desire to read at least 12 books this year (1 book per month) but guess who needs to take her own advice on discipline?

Reminders

  Reminders

Sometimes – A lot of times – we forget to do the things we need to do or have planned to do due to certain reasons. This is why a Reminder should be among your essentials this year. Whether it’s a digital App, little stick-on notes you paste around, a nice  accountable human being who can be a reminder of your goals or visions, whatever you know works best for you. Make sure you add this to your list. Remember you need to stay focused and being reminded to do so is Paramount.

 Breaks/Rests

Taking a break or a rest from everything you’re planning, achieving and etc is so important. You can’t really expect your physical body to work non-stop in actualizing your goals. You need to include a reasonable amount of rest or breaks in your list of new year essentials. Like a wise man once said to me, Rest is also a Reward to yourself.

Thasall for now!

Thanks for reading!❤️
Kindly let me know what other essentials you’ve gotten started out with this year and some you’re planning to add? I’d love to hear from you:)!
